Pink-Out Clinic

Location: Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center, 4465 Jimmy Simmons Blvd.
Age: Kindergarten - 8th grade
Attire: Athlete clothing and closed-toed shoes.

• Learn routines and cheers from the Cheer and Dance Teams to perform on the sidelines during the first and second quarters of the football game at Provost Umphrey Stadium
• Participate in the Team Walk parade at 12:00 PM on Cardinal Lane/East Virginia Street, alongside Cheer, Dance, Band, and Football

Registration Fee: $40
Registration Deadline to guarantee a t-shirt: October 1
Registration fee includes:

• A Pink-Out t-shirt
  • Walk-up registrations on the morning of the clinic will only receive a t-shirt on a first-come, first-served basis and payment will need to be made in cash at the door

Annual Show

The 51±¬ÁÏ Dance Team presents an annual spring show that offers the widest variety of dance styles. Held in the University Theater, this exciting show is one of the most anticipated tickets in town. The directors, team, and guest choreographers create an artistically exhilarating two-act show that teaches each dancer to become a well-rounded performer.

2026-2027 Dance Team Auditions

Timeline and Information

1. Registration Requirements
   All dancers auditioning must register online and pay the $40 registration fee before submitting their audition videos. Video submissions will not be considered unless registration is completed and payment is received.
   Registration Deadline: TBA
   
   
2. First Round – Video Submissions
   After registering, dancers will receive a choreography video to learn, record, and submit via email. Videos should be emailed to Head Coach Dézja Brown at ludanceteam@lamar.edu.
   Submission Deadline: TBA
   
   
3. Finalists Announcement
   After the first round, all audition participants will be notified via email regarding whether they have received an invitation to in-person auditions for the final round.
   
   
4. Final Round – In-Person Auditions (Invitation Only)
   Date: TBA
   Check-in: 8:30 AM
   Auditions Begin: 9:00 AM
   Location: Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center
   
   
5. Team Announcement
   The 2026-2027 team will be announced same day as in-person auditions. At 5:00 pm, the results  will be posted outside the doors of McDonald Gym.

Additional Info About In-Person Auditions

• In-person interviews
• A 60-second solo of dancers choice in styles contemporary, lyrical, or jazz
• Two short combinations to be learned and performed in front of a panel of judges and the head coach
• Solo Requirements: Must include technical skills such as, but not limited to, battements, extensions/leg holds, pirouettes, a la seconde turns, right and left jeté, leap in second, calypsos, and firebirds. Acro skills are welcome but not required. Solo should not exceed 60 seconds.

• All-black spandex shorts or leggings and a black crop top or sports bra. Rhinestoned or costume tops in black are allowed.
• Hair should be styled out of the face.
• Jazz shoes, barefoot, or half soles for footwear.
• Game-day makeup with red lipstick is preferred.
• Additional black layers such as a black hoodie, sweatshirt, or sweatpants may be worn for hip-hop. Any color tennis shoes are permitted.
